A couple of cute videos...

Video #1: Uncle Scott the Freestyle Rapper
While his song isn't quite as catchy as "Pants on the Ground", I'd argue that it is much more original since the lyrics change just about every time he sings it. Miller loves it as you will see...

Video #2: Giving Daddy Kisses
Hopefully, Miller's kissing skills will improve with maturity. Otherwise he may never have a girlfriend and may end up living in our basement forever. For now though, we love his sloppy, somewhat violent kisses and hope he reserves them for us for a VERY long time.

A Busy Weekend

We had a very busy, but fun, weekend.  It started a little early when Miller and I headed to Birmingham on Friday morning.  We went to eat lunch at the Cheesecake Factory {yum!} for my dear friend Maggee's birthday.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful, godly friends and it is always such a joy to be with them.  The cheesecake didn't hurt either.
Happy Birthday, Maggee!
Miller and Sam.  Sam is almost exactly two months older than Miller and is the sweetest thing ever.  I hope Miller and Sam will be great friends!
I think Katie had fun, but it's hard to say...
After lunch, Miller and I went to my dad's house to surprise him for his birthday.  It worked.  We about gave him a heart attack when he saw us.  I love surprises and I was so glad that we were able to keep it a secret!  Bryant came down after work and we all went out to eat.  As another surprise, my brother and his girlfriend drove up from Auburn to join th party.  We had so much fun ,but I didn't take a single picture to document it.  You'll just have to take my word for it.
We did manage to get a picture the next morning before we all headed out.  We did a little shopping and then headed to Boaz for birthday party #2 of the weekend.  Margaret cooked for the family and we celebrated Frank and Bryant's birthdays {and Scott's in spirit!}.  We have quite a few of those February birthdays!  Once again, I was bad about pictures that night.  Miller loved being at his Nana and Papa Frank's house!
The next day we woke up to an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day!!  I had forgotten what the sun even looked like.  After church we took Miller out in the yard to play.  It was so much fun and got me so excited for Spring!!
After rolling around in the grass and chomping on a few leaves, we headed in for a bath.  Miller LOVES bathtime and he is sitting up in his tub and even playing with toys now.
Miller is getting to be a slippery little fella.  It won't be long before he'll be able to get right out of this little tub.
So, sorry for the long post, but there was just so much to share.  And I'll leave you with this message from Miller...
"Come back soon or I'll get ya!!"

Cousins

While Miller does not have any first-cousins yet, we got the chance to visit with his two second-cousins last Friday.
From left to right: My cousin, Martie, and her daughter Olivia (4 months); my cousin, Kacie, her daughter Caroline (2 years old) and you can't see the baby bump but baby girl #2 is due in April, me and Miller (6 months).  I think that sentence has more grammatical errors than I care to count but I'm not sure how else to explain the pic.
It was so much fun to watch the babies play together and we look forward to many more visits!  Poppy especially...

Addison Grace Eady

On February 5th my dear friend Sarah Beth had her baby girl, Addison Grace.  Bryant, Miller and I drove down to see them and got a chance to visit for a little while.  She is absolutely beautiful and looks an awful lot like her mommy.  We are so thankful that everyone is healthy!

Tall and Skinny

I heard those words used to describe Miller for the first time today.  I was as shocked as you are.  Typically people tell me how chunky Miller is, which I agree with completely.  I mean, one look at those chipmunk cheeks and the word "skinny" flies right out the window.  However, today those are the very words our pediatrician used to describe Miller, or perhaps what Miller will be like in the future.  He weighed in at 17 pounds (32nd percentile) and measured 27 inches (60th percentile).  At four months he was in the 35th percentile for weight so he basically stayed right on that same growth curve.  However, he had a big growth spurt in height moving from the 22nd percentile to the 60th.  Pretty big jump!  Miller passed all of his other "tests" with flying colors and was quite brave when he received three immunization shots.  We are so blessed and thankful for such a healthy, happy baby boy!

Six Months

It is hard to believe that Miller is half of a year old!  Before we know it he'll be a toddler instead of a baby.  We head to the pediatrician tomorrow and I'm interested to see how much he weighs now.   Everything he can get still goes straight to his mouth, but I can tell an improvement in his hand coordination by how he handles his toys and his social interaction is advancing also.
Also, he has discovered Oreo, our demon cat and wants to pet her whenever she's within three feet.  Oreo has been suprisingly calm as he pets her.  I always have a fear that she'll hiss at him but she has yet to do this.  Another recent development has been the start of veggies, which I am attempting to make homemade.
My sweet mom came up on Friday so that Bryant and I could have a date night {I'm sure it had nothing to do with her wanting to see Miller}.  Along the way she stopped by Whole Foods to get some organic fruits and vegetables for us.
While Mom entertained Miller, I got busy cooking green beans, squash, and sweet potatoes.
Puree and freeze!
The critics review...
Looks like a hit to me!  She also brought organic avacado and bananas, but we'll just mash those as we go.  I really enjoyed making the food for Miller.  It felt good knowing exactly what he is eating.   It was also inexpensive and we're stocked up for a while.  However, I am also not naive enough to say that I will always have the time do this.  We'll just have to see how it goes.  For now though it was simple enough!  If you live in Marshall County and know of any places that carry good organic produce please let me know.  Otherwise I may just make it part of a trip to Huntsville or Birmingham every couple of months.  Alright, off to prep for the Super Bowl.  I'll be back with an update from the pediatrician.  Until then...

Catching Up

So you're probably wondering if we got stranded in Colorado or dropped off the face of the Earth entirely.  Well, I feel like it because about two weeks ago our hard drive on our computer died.  Yikes.  Fortunately we had purchased Apple Care with our Mac and we had just recently backed up our hard drive via Time Machine.  Apple replaced the hard drive free of charge and we were able to recover most of our pictures, data, etc.  All that being said, if you purchase a Mac be sure to go ahead and get the Apple Care and take advantage of the Time Machine feature on it.  Okay, stepping off the soap box...

We had a great time in Steamboat.  I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Miller was really good on his first airplane ride! (And the others that followed.)
One of Miller's newest favorite things to do is to bite your face give sloppy kisses.  Love it!
