Our church put together a fabulous night for the children called Following the Shepherds. It was hands-down my favorite thing we did this Christmas! We started off at the church where Melanie read the story of the birth of Jesus. Then three shepherds came out and told us to follow them as they searched for baby Jesus.
We loaded a charter bus and set off to find him! We were so glad Hunter & Hays came along with us!
A little tough to get a good picture of three excited boys! Our first stop was the hospital since that's where babies are usually born. We went inside and asked around, but he wasn't there. After that we talked about how Mary and Joesph went on a journey so we checked a local hotel. I was so proud when Miller told me that they wouldn't be there because "there were too many people and there wasn't any room".
We finally ended up in a barn where we found a live nativity! When Miller saw it from a distance he got so excited and squeeled, "I see him!" It was so sweet. When we went in we all sang "Joy to the World" and "Away in a Manger". I couldn't help but tear up hearing all of those sweet little voices sing and see what Christmas is really about.
After all of the kids had a chance to check out the baby and animals up close, we went back to the church where we found a birthday party for Jesus waiting!
If you've been following my blog for long you probably know Miller's friend Ella Kate and his love for her. It really was an amazing night and I hope we do it every year! (hint hint, Melanie ;)
A few days later we celebrated at the boys' preschool with their class parties.
Miller was doing his nervous-lip-tug while he mumbled what he wanted to Santa.
Jacob looked at as though he was thinking, "Save me, Mama!"
The closest I could get of a brother picture!
